Special Features: Decorative foliage and fascinating flowers. Onion-sized flowering buds open to large hemispherical, dark, reddish-purple colored flowers. Decorative foliage. Lush, tropical-looking, reseeds in the garden for long term use. A striking architectural plant either alone or in small groups. Gold Medal prize winner at Plantarium in Boskoop, Holland, 1993.
Historical: The first seeds were obtained from the National Arboretum, USA. In 1992 we first included this species (true seed, originally from Korea), in our collection, offering at first only small packets. It was an immediate success. This very unusual dark red angelica had never before been seen in Germany.

(8) These perennial seeds germinate very irregularly over a long period. Lower temperatures of less than +5°C [41°F] are very effective. Seed trays should not be discarded prematurely. Constant moisture must be maintained. Do not leave in direct sunlight. For Alstroemeria we recommend to keep sowing for 3 weeks at approximately +30°C [86°F], then 3 weeks at +5°C [41°F], then at +21°C [70°F].
