Origin: Southeastern Italy, West Greece: rocky shades.
Distinction: Award of Garden Merit (A.G.M.) from the Royal Horticultural Society.
Special Features: Erect, star-shaped flowers. Excellent for the rock garden, or sprawling over walls.
Historical: Was first introduced to gardens soon after its discovery on Italy's Mount Gargano in 1827.
