Origin: Europe, Central Asia and Siberia: nutrient poor grasslands, roadsides, embankments and forest margins.
Special Features: Aromatic. Typical spice in the south-eastern Mediterranean. At its origin ORIGANUM vulgare is one of the most important native butterfly food plants. Draught resistent. Edible flowers.
Historical: Used as a remedy in ancient times. Already mentioned by the physician Hippocrates (4th century b.c.).

Sowing Direction:

(15) Rapidly germinating, keep seed in constant moisture (not wet) with temperatures of about +20°C [68°F]. Seeds must be covered thinly. Do not cover very small seeds, but tightly press into the earth. Keep in cooler conditions after germination occurs.
