In 1992 we first included this species (true seed, originally from Korea), in our collection, offering at first only small packets. The crop had been collected from the one trial plant and was correspondingly modest. It was an immediate success.

The first seeds I obtained from Kurt Bluemel in America, where I had seen the plant when visiting the National Arboretum with him. He had been lucky enough to acquire some seeds from them. As usual, we signed contracts for further propagation with two of our growers. We were then very shocked to discover that one of these growers outside Germany had given several of our flowering plants to his best German customer to allow him to introduce these as his "discovery" at an exhibition. He even won an award with them.

The press wrote an article on this very unusual dark red angelica which had never before been seen in Germany. Subsequently, I arranged for a rectification to be published.
